Susan Patricia Skiles

Susan Patricia Skiles, 62, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at St. Luke’s South, Overland Park, Kansas. She was born on Friday, October 27, 1950, in Austin, Texas, the daughter of Patrick and Catharine (Trimble) Lavy. Susan has lived in Ottawa since 1996 moving from Branson, Missouri where she lived for ten years. Prior to that, she lived in Salem, Missouri beginning her freshman year moving there from Austin, Texas. When she was eleven she attended a boarding school for girls in England for one year. She graduated from Salem High School, Salem, Missouri, with the class of 1968. On March 16, 1968 Susan was united in marriage with Gary Skiles in Rolla, Missouri. They shared forty-five years together. He survives of the home. Susan worked fifteen years for Frank Eye Center as an office manager; Wal-Mart Supercenter as department manager both of Ottawa; Tri-Lakes Eye Center as an insurance specialist in Branson, Missouri; and a dental office manager in Salem, Missouri. She is survived by her Husband – Gary Skiles of the home; Daughter – Nichole Hunsaker and husband Mike of Bradleyville, Missouri; Daughter – Catharine Skiles and Lawrence Kaub of Ottawa; Daughter – Victoria Skiles of the home; Son – Michael Skiles of the home; Daughter – Elizabeth Humphrey and husband Jerry of Hillsboro, Missouri; Grandchildren – Austin, Kaitlyn and Dylan Hunsaker; Dawson and Kinleigh Kaub; Mother – Catharine Sanders of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Sister – Alexandra Sanders of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Susan is preceded in death by her Father – Patrick Lavy; Sister – Nikki Lavy and Step-father – Alec Sanders. SERVICES: Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 11, 2013. IN STATE: A Rosary will be said at 6:30 P.M., Friday, May 10, 2013 at Dengel & Son Mortuary, followed by a family and friends visitation from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.
