Susan Kay “Susie” Abbott was born on Sunday, January 1, 1956, in Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas. She was the daughter of William “Bill” and Geraldine “Jerry” (Graffham) Abbott. Except for living in North Carolina for a short time, Susie made her home in Ottawa until her death on Thursday, April 23, 2009, at the age of fifty-three years. She graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1974, where she participated in Pep Club, Kayettes, Girls Choir and Cytones. She also built stage sets for the Drama Club. She attended Kansas State University, studying Interior Design. Susie worked as an electronics assembler for King Radio in Ottawa, Olathe and Lawrence, Kansas; Daisy Corporation of Gardner, Kansas; and Parmalee, retiring in 2001, due to health reasons. Susie was a devoted member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Ottawa. In her younger years, she was active in Rambling Rancher’s 4-H Club and was a student at Bernhardt Ballet School. She is survived by two brothers, Garry Abbott and his wife, Beth, of Ottawa, Kansas; Robert W. “Bob” Abbott of Littleton, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents. Susie loved life, family, friends and laughter! She loved collecting jokes (cute, funny or off-colored), as she just loved to laugh. Susie enjoyed nature, fishing and cruising in her car. Susie had a huge heart filled with love and orneriness. Family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa.
