Sue Brockus, 89, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Baldwin Healthcare & Rehabilitation. Family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Graveside inurnment service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 19, 2022, at Richmond Cemetery, Richmond, Kansas. Sue was born August 13, 1932, at Chattanooga, Tennessee, the daughter of Glenn E. and Swooney Opal (Gann) Campbell. She lived in Princeton, Kansas for 43 years, from 1972 to 2015, moving to Ottawa in 2015. She graduated from Central High School in Chattanooga with the class of 1951. On December 2, 1952, Sue was united in marriage to George A. Brockus. He preceded her in death on April 3, 2015. Sue was a devoted homemaker and was employed 15 years at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, Missouri, archiving. She enjoyed oil painting, ceramics, and her dogs; they were her joy. Sue was a talented painter. She started with ceramics but painting really showed off her talent. She mostly enjoyed using oil paints and she loved painting snow. She always said snow has a lot more colors in it than white. She was also preceded in death by her parents, son, Byron Brockus, and daughter-in-law, Debbie Brockus. Survivors include three children, Chris Brockus of Richmond, Kenneth Brockus (Cheryl Crique) of Ottawa, and Donna (Phil) Moore also of Ottawa; ten grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions to Prairie Paws Animal Shelter c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
