Stella Louise Jackson

Stella Louise Jackson was born on Saturday, December 4, 1948, in Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Luis Munoz and Mary Madelyn (Cruces) Vega. A lifelong resident, Stella made her home in Ottawa until her death on Sunday, May 2, 2010, at the age of sixty-one years. She attended Ottawa schools, later earning her GED. Stella was employed by Hallmark Cards for thirty-two years, as a machine operator, retiring December 31, 2001. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Ottawa. Stella was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and caregiver. The past seven or eight years, she lovingly took care of her parents. She enjoyed knitting and sewing for her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also liked to go camping, water and snow skiing, and also jet skiing. On February 2, 1968, Stella was united in marriage with Kevin W. Jackson in Olathe, Kansas. He survives of their home. She is also survived by her father, Luis Vega, of Ottawa; daughter, Cherie Louise Tucker of Ottawa, Kansas; three sisters, Rosalind Flores of El Centro, California, Patricia Ann Shenk of Ottawa, Kansas, Sara Vega of Ottawa, Kansas; brother, Richard Vega of Lawrence, Kansas; and six grandchildren, Ariel Tucker, Alex Tucker, Avery Tucker, Brandi Crooks, Keith Crooks, and Shyann Jackson. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Madelyn (Cruces) Vega; son, Kevin W. Jackson, Jr.; and brother, Salvador Vega. SERVICES: A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Ottawa at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 7, 2010. IN STATE: Mrs. Jackson will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, where a Rosary will be said at 6:00 Thursday evening followed by visitation from 6:30 to 7:30. Cremation will follow visitation. CEMETERY: Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Ottawa, Kansas.
