Stanley Jefferson Thomas

Stanley Jefferson Thomas, 65, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away Monday, August 23, 2021, at Kansas City VA Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri. Cremation is planned with a graveside service to be held later at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Stanley was born June 22, 1956, in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of William Jefferson Jr. and Iona Narine Thomas. He was a near lifelong Olathe resident. He graduated from Olathe North High School with the Class of 1974 and continued his education at Johnson County Community College in tech training. Stanley served in the United States Marine Corps from June 1975 to June 1981 and faithfully served his country. He attained the rank of PFC, and his citations included the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge and Good Conduct Medal. His usual occupation was in maintenance, retiring on December 13, 2019. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include three siblings, Bill, Brenda, and Diana, one niece, five nephews, many friends and extended family members. In lieu of flowers or trees the family suggests memorial contributions to Veterans Community Project, 8900 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64131.
