Sonia Lynn Hutchinson was born December 11, 1956, at Emporia, Kansas. She was the daughter of Jack L. and Pat M. (Ross) Hutchinson. Sonia lived in Ottawa, Kansas for twenty-eight years, moving to Rantoul, in Franklin County, Kansas in September of 2002, where she made her home until her death Thursday, August 28, 2003, at the age of forty-six years. Sonia graduated from Central Heights High School with the class of 1974 and attended truck driving school in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. In the mid to late 1970's, she worked for H.D. Lee and in the early to mid 1980's, for Parmalee Corporation, both of Ottawa. In the late 1980's, she was a truck driver for Cartwright Van Lines in Kansas City, Missouri. She was employed as a forklift operator for Our Own Hardware in Ottawa in the 1990's, until the business closed, then as an assembly worker for Ottawa Truck to January of 2003. As a youth, she was a member of Rantoul Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Aerie Lodge #2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Ottawa; Franklin County Cancer Group Therapy, where she participated in several fund raisers; and Royal Neighbors of America. Sonia was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying basketball, baseball and football. She was also a huge fan of John Wayne, having watched all of his movies. Sonia was a good friend to so many and always ready to lend a hand. She loved spending time with her family and greatly enjoyed their family gatherings. She is survived by her parents; two brothers, Daniel Hutchinson and his wife, Kelly, of Rantoul, Kansas, Chris Hutchinson and his wife, Lynn, of Princeton, Kansas; three nephews, Sean Hutchinson, Kevin Hutchinson, Jon White; three nieces, Chelsea Hutchinson, Amanda Hutchinson, Amy Riddle; and special friend, Suzy Weaver of Ottawa, Kansas. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2003. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Richard Dunn. IN STATE: Sonia will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5:00 p.m. Friday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 5 to 6:00 Saturday evening. CEMETERY: Ruhamah Cemetery, Rantoul, Kansas.
