Sondra A. Wininger

Sondra Ann Wininger was born July 11, 1941, in McCune, Kansas. She was the daughter of Vera Ovaltine and Lula (Hall) Spangler. She grew up in McCune, Kansas. After graduating from high school, she moved to Richmond, California. In 1972, she moved back to McCune. In 1986, she moved to Ottawa and, in 1987, she moved to Pomona, in Franklin County, Kansas, where she made her home until her death Sunday, December 29, 2002, at the age of sixty-one years. Sondra graduated from McCune High School with the class of 1959. She was a lifelong homemaker. For several years, she was a waitress in McCune, Kansas and Richmond, California. She was a member of the Methodist Church in McCune, Kansas. Sondra enjoyed caring for her home, was an excellent cook, and loved taking care of her house plants. She enjoyed watching soap operas, wrestling and Walker Texas Ranger on T.V. She also had fun playing cards, especially Straight 8's and Solitaire. On October 19, 1973, Sondra was united in marriage with Deloy W. Wininger, Sr. at Miami, Oklahoma. He survives of their home. She is also survived by her son, Deloy Wininger, Jr. of Burlington, Kansas, stepson, Gene Wininger of Coalgate, Oklahoma; three brothers, Donald Spangler of Olathe, Kansas, Paul Spangler of Richmond, California, Noel Spangler of Vacaville, California; two grandchildren, Sarah and Clinton Wininger of Coalgate, Oklahoma; and, several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents. SERVICES: Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2003, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, Kansas. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Gail Bower. IN STATE: Mrs. Wininger will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Wednesday evening.
