Shirley Nadine Banks

Shirley Nadine (Smith) Banks was born on March 16, 1928 on a farm near New Lancaster, Miami County, Kansas. She married Robert E Banks, MD on August 6, 1950 in the New Lancaster Methodist Church. She died August 28, 2024 at the age of 96 in Paola.

Visitation will be held on September 4, 2024 at the Dengel & Son-Paola Chapel starting at 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 11:00a.m. A burial will take place after the funeral service at the New Lancaster Cemetery.

Shirley was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and spent her years cooking and making a home for her entire family. She was a life long member of the United Methodist Church and was active in the Paola community on many boards and with local theater She and her husband had a strong emphasis on education in the family and the community.

Shirley is survived by sons: Robert (Jenifer), Lawrence (Jeanine), Donald (Stacy), Gregory (DeAnn); grandchildren: Susan, Karlsson, Connie (Blake) Beaver, Kevin (Megan), Calvin, Allison, (Joseph) Sanders, Brad (Kelly), Alicia (Justin) Goetting, Michael (Kyung), Emma, Sarah and great-grandchildren: Claire Beaver, Evan Beaver, Katelyn Sanders, William Sanders, Benjamin Banks, Merritt Goetting and several cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert E Banks, MD and her parents Emory and Mary Smith.
