Shirley Jane Mayo, 83, of Osawatomie, passed away on November 28, 2023 at AdventHealth of Ottawa.
She was born on April 27, 1940 to Joseph and Dovie (Swearingen) McDaniel in Paola, Kansas.
Shirley was married to John Fickel on November 5, 1958. They had two daughters, Tammie and Shellie. The marriage would later end in divorce. She would later be united in marriage to Willie Mayo III on October 1, 1976. They had one son together, Willie Mayo IV. Shirley and Willie would later divorce but remained good friends.
She and Willie owned and operated Willies Dew Drop Inn in Paola, as well as Mayo's Cafe in Osawatomie. After her retirement, Shirley worked for Foster Grandparents, morning out for moms for 15 years.
Shirley loved spending time with family. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, and feeding the birds.
Shirley is survived by her son, Willie (Karie) Mayo IV, daughter, Tammie (Wayne) Daulton, daughter, Shellie Hartmann (Richard) and sister, Barbara (LeRoy) Moore. Grandchildren; Joe (Angie) Fickel, Wayne (Neisa) Daulton Jr., Annie (Lance) Kerr, Elizabeth (Bryan) Wenski, Steven (Julia) Hartmann, Kye Mayo, and Jayla Mayo. Great-Grandchildren; Jayde and Brendan Fickel, Kearston Bostick, Wyatt Daulton, L.J. and Brooklyn Kerr, Tyler and Olivia Wenski, and Kensley Hartmann. Great-Great-Granddaughter Torvi Bostick, as well as many nieces and nephews and her loving dog, Lila.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
