Shirley Ann Fluke, 73, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Olathe Health Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 24, 2022, at Life Mission Church, 3085 Marshall Rd., Ottawa.
Family will meet with friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa.
Interment 4:00 p.m., Monday, 24th, Lerado Cemetery, Lerado, Kansas.
Shirley was born March 6, 1949, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Walter S. and Elda (Pratt) Reder.
She lived in Cherryvale, Kansas for five years before moving to Ottawa, where she made her home for the last 45 years.
She graduated from Mulvane High School with the class of 1967. Shirley continued her education attending Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia; Neosho County Community College in Chanute, Kansas graduating with an Associate of Arts degree; and attended MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas studying Business Administration.
On May 31, 1970, Shirley was united in marriage to Bobby “Bob” Fluke in Mulvane, Kansas. They were happily married for 52 years.
Shirley was employed as a dispatcher with the Ottawa Police & Fire Departments for several years in the 1980’s and 1990’s. She also taught 911 classes for Neosho County Community College in Ottawa, and for seven years in the 1990’s she was employed at The Christian Book & Gift Shoppe in Olathe.
She was a member of the Life Mission Church in Ottawa.
Shirley always enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed clowning and was known as “Sunflower Sadie”.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Vicki Jo Reder.
Survivors include her husband Bob Fluke of the home; two children, JoAnne Fluke of Abilene, Texas, and Brandon Fluke and wife T.J. of Ottawa; two siblings, Karen Oliver of Derby, Kansas, and Richard Reder of Paola, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Collin Fluke, Destiny Fluke-Chenault and husband Gabe, Serena Fluke, Liliana Fluke, Aurin Fluke, Greyson Fluke, and Kaliope Fluke; and great granddaughter Mavis Chenault.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Ottawa Life Mission Church, Ottawa LifeCare Center, or Franklin County Cancer Foundation c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
