Shirley A. DeCock, 71, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Ransom Memorial Hospital. Family will meet with friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2015, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m., at Highland Cemetery. Shirley was born Thursday, August 19, 1943, in Orange, Texas, the daughter of Derron and Winnie (Casey) Parkison, they preceded her in death. She was a near lifelong resident of Ottawa. Shirley was united in marriage with Donald E. DeCock March 24, 1962, in Ottawa. Survivors include her husband, Don; five children, Allen DeCock of Ottawa, Carol Unsderfer and husband, Bill of Salina, Denise Stierlin and husband, Thomas of Osage City, Ron DeCock of Ottawa, and Jennie West and husband, Ron of Ames, Iowa; siblings, Rex Parkison and wife, Nancy of Marshall, Texas, Terri Crumm of Topeka, and Joe Parkison and wife, Cindy of Camas, Washington; thirteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley worked as an LPN for Crestview Nursing Home and Ransom Memorial Hospital Labor & Delivery both of Ottawa, and the Medical Lodge, in Gardner. Shirley is lovingly remembered as a kind and caring person who genuinely loved and cared for those around her. She was a member of the Community Foursquare Church. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, crocheting, knitting, and making many lovely ceramic pottery items. Her loss is felt by all who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed.
