Sheryl Troxel

June 29, 1955 — March 15, 2015

Sheryl Ann Troxel, age 59, of Osawatomie, Kansas, passed away March 15, 2015 at Osawatomie Life Care with her family and friends by her side after a long, hard fought battle with cancer. Sheryl was born June 29, 1955 at Paola, Kansas. She was the daughter of Kenneth R. and Shirley (Blackmon) Ostrander. She attended Osawatomie High School and graduated with the Class of 1973. On August 25, 1973, Sheryl and David Troxel were united in marriage in the First United Methodist Church at Osawatomie. They made their home in Osawatomie and became the parents of four children. Sheryl was a caregiver for 12 years for the Bray family. She then went to work at the Osawatomie State Hospital for a short time. She later worked at Tri-Ko in Osawatomie as a supported living assistant in the residential section. Sheryl had many hobbies, but her passion was needlepoint. She stitched many needlepoint gifts for her family and friends. She loved the outdoors where she liked to plant flowers and take care of her flower beds. She enjoyed cooking and baking, too. She visited her mother as often as she could at the nursing home. Visiting friends was another pastime that brought her joy. Helping people was just something that Sheryl always seemed to be doing. She was preceded in death by her father and her son Robbie. She is survived by her husband Dave of the home; her mother Shirley Ostrander of Osawatomie; two sons Chris Troxel (Jessica) of Parker and Jason Troxel of Olathe; her daughter Ashley Troxel of the home; her brother Mark Ostrander of Lenexa; 5 grandchildren Colby, Carsten, Callum, Moxon, and Jaxon; other relatives and friends. Memorials are to Tri-Ko or Miami County Cancer Foundation and can be sent in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 605 O'Neal Ave., Osawatomie, KS, 66064.
