Sheryl Kathleen Hoffman, 80, Spring Hill, Kansas passed away at her home Monday, July 29th, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Services will be held at Ocheltree Baptist Church in Spring Hill, KS. Visitation is Friday, August 2nd, 2024, from 6 pm-8 pm. The funeral is on Saturday, August 3rd at 10 am. Burial will follow at Paola Cemetery, Paola, Kansas. Sheryl was born October 21, 1943, in Mount Hope, Kansas to Dell Dallas and Mable Lee (Kasenburg) Roberts. She graduated from Wichita Southeast High School in 1961. Sheryl married Orion Eugene Hoffman on May 25th, 1962 in Wichita, Kansas at her mom's home. Sheryl and Gene made their home in Paola Kansas where she worked for IBM and Hallmark before becoming a stay-at-home mother and homemaker. She then attended Calvary Bible College in Kansas City MO. In 1978 she graduated with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She began her teaching career at Berean Christian School where she taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade. Sheryl continued her career at Kansas City Christian Academy teaching grades K-5. Sheryl graduated with her Masters in 1993 from Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, IN. She then became the elementary school principal at Kansas City Christian Academy. She finished her teaching career at Elyria Christian School in Elyria Kansas. In 2000 she retired from teaching and began working at Calvary in the Registrar’s office retiring in 2008.
Sheryl had a loving heart and soul, especially for her granddaughter Alyssa and nieces and nephews. She loved having family and friend game nights especially playing Rummikub with Alyssa. Sheryl was a tremendous prayer warrior, always praying for her family and friends, and keeping prayer journals.
Sheryl was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings: Kale, Noreen, Colleen, Reed, Gary, Kay, Jerry, and Shirley. She is survived by her Husband Gene and daughter Chris of the home, Spring Hill, Kansas, Son Thom (Amy), and their daughter Alyssa, KCMO. Sisters-in-law Jo Roberts, Newton, Kansas, Rita Biggin, San Diego, California, and Dorthy Gulick, Lenexa, Kansas. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
