Shelly Rae Tooley, age 49, of Louisburg, KS, passed away Friday, November 28, 2008, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center. She was born January 12, 1959, in Paola, KS, to Joyce (Wallace) Meek and Leslie Meek. She grew up in Louisburg and graduated from Louisburg High School in 1977. Shelly married James Kenneth Tooley on June 18, 1977. They have one son, Matthew. Surviving are husband, Ken, of the home; son, Matt, and his wife Tess, of Louisburg; three grandchildren whom she dearly loved, granddaughter, Dakota, and grandsons, James and Braden; her parents, Joyce and Les Meek of Louisburg; brothers, Denton Meek and his wife Terry and Dennis Meek, both of Louisburg; mother-in-law, Mary Ellen Ennis (Bud); stepmother-in-law, Karen Tooley; brother and sister-in-laws, Kevin and Mary Tooley, Carol and John Coffey, Susan and Richard Jost, Cindy and Justin Laipple, and Robert Tooley, many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her deeply. Shelly was employed at the JCPenney Distribution Center in Lenexa, KS, as a stock keeper. She was hardworking and dedicated to whatever she put her mind to. She loved sports of any kind. She was an avid Chiefs fan and loved riding her Harley Davidson motorcycle. She worked many years with the Louisburg Area Recreation Association as a softball and baseball coach or as a member of the board. She never missed a LHS Wildcat football game when she had a nephew playing. Shelly had two great passions in her life, her family and the conservation of the Siberian tiger. Her many years involvement with the Cedar Cove Feline Conservation Park knew no bounds. All the many volunteers at Cedar Cove were like a second family. Shelly was a loving daughter, wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend who will be greatly missed. She was always there to give a helping hand in any way that she could to whoever needed it. Shelly"s generosity touched many lives in so many ways. By being an organ donor, she will continue to touch lives for years to come. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the Louisburg United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Tuesday, December 2, at the church. Burial will be in the Louisburg Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Cedar Cove Feline Conservation Park C/O Penwell-Gabel Louisburg Chapel. Louisburg United Methodist Church 249 N.
