Shelley Lynne Dean-Baker, 56, of Wellsville, Kansas, peacefully went to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 7, 2020, with family by her side at the University of Kansas Health System. Family will meet with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 16, 2020, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Shelley was born July 22, 1964 at Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Robert Dean and Karen (Gumm) Miller. She lived in Ottawa, moving to Wellsville in 1993. She graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1982 and attended Emporia State University. Shelley was united in marriage to Michael Baker February 12, 1994, at Wellsville. They were happily married for twenty-six years. Shelley was a homemaker. She was a bright light for her family and friends. She had a good sense of humor and was very quick witted. She had a big heart for people and cared for the elderly and enjoyed helping them. Shelley loved animals, car rides, talking with friends, sewing and cross stitching. She was preceded in death by her father Robert Dean; nephew, Adam Paspates; and maternal grandparents, Hayward and Betty Brill. Survivors include her husband Michael “Lovey” Baker of Wellsville; mother, Karen Miller of Ottawa; two sisters, Brenda (Stephen) Treadway of Santa Clarita, California, and Nancy (Paul) Fournier of Olathe, Kansas; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
