.Shelby Elizabeth John, age 33, of Ottawa, Kansas passed June 21 2024 at her home. Shelby was born August 30, 1990 in Denver, Colorado to James "Jim" Bradley John and Robin Earle (Amick). She graduated from Yates Center High School in 2008.
Shelby moved to Ottawa in 2012 and met Brady Keim while she was a customer at his family's restaurant. Her elegant style and the signature "click clack" sound of her shoes on the tile floor were the highlights of his workdays. He attempted to impress her by knowing answers to Jeopardy questions - she did not notice.
Shortly after Shelby began working at Keim Bakery, she and Brady began dating and enjoyed several years together before getting engaged in 2019. The two were married in an informal ceremony in 2022.
Shelby enjoyed reading, watching scary movies, and being part of the Ottawa community. Her greatest joy was raising her three dogs - Maya, Finn, and Annie. She raised all three since they were puppies and taught them several commands including "Sit", "Let's get a treat", and "Please stop barking".
After Keim Bakery closed in 2016, Shelby continued her baking life by making desserts and pies as "Our Pie Lady" for a local restaurant and several individuals.
Shelby worked at Kalmar Global since 2016. She began her Kalmar career in the Planning Department, then transitioned to the Counterbalance Warranty Administration team. She proudly served a wide range of dealerships and customers within North America, South America, and parts of Western Europe.
Shelby was a vibrant part of the local Ottawa community - serving on the Leadership Franklin County Board of Trustees and the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce Board. These involvements were a great source of pride for her.
Shelby is survived by her husband Brady Keim; dogs: Maya, Finn, and Annie; brother: Kannon John; parents: Jim John and Sarah John; and her Aunt Jeanine John, Uncle John Hallsten, cousin Madisen Hallsten; grandmother Doris John; and many other family members.
Shelby had impactful relationships with her Oma (Ericka Earle) and her stepmother during childhood (Debi Greenway).
