Shawn Christopher Hladky

Shawn C. Hladky, age 42, of Denver, CO passed away on December 19, 2017 at his home in Denver. A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 27th, 2017 at Dengel & Son Mortuary Paola Chapel, 305 N. Pearl Street, Paola, KS. 66071. Directly following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at the City of Paola Cemetery, 909 W. Miami Street, Paola, KS, weather permitting. Shawn was born on December 16, 1975 in Bowling Green, Ohio. At the tender age of six weeks, Shawn moved to Northeast Kansas. He graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School and then Kansas State University. Shawn loved not only his time at K State, but was a great alumni supporter always. He loved K State football. He also stayed loyal to the Kansas City Chiefs his entire life. Upon graduation, he took his first job in Denver, CO. He settled happily into the state of Colorado and then into the computer science industry. He worked for ViaWest Communications. He lived in Colorado the remainder of his life; however, he also stayed attached to northeast Kansas. The Hladky family had a long history of building and maintaining a cabin in Oak Creek Canyon “with all the trimmings.” Shawn also owned some additional acreage at Tuttle Creek Reservoir. His first trip “to the lake” happened during his first year of life, and he was there at frequent intervals thereafter. He had a host of friends with whom he shared golfing, snow skiing, traveling, and hiking. Shawn also liked to walk. He loved to travel and was able to visit much of the United States. His passport had quite a few location stamps in it. His most recent trip was to Barcelona, Spain. Shawn was preceded in death by his sister, Shannon Faith Hladky Owens, brother Brian Ross Hladky, and all of his grandparents. Survivors include his sister, Heather Lee Hladky Robinson (Daniel) of Lenexa, KS, father, Harold Lee Hladky (Gail) of Battle Creek, MI, mother, Rebecca Irene Bond Hladky of Lenexa, KS, step brother, Mark Fitch (Stephanie) of Rolla, MO., his great aunt, Mary Ann Stewart of Paola, KS, his aunt, Katherine Bond Altaras (David) of Dallas, TX, niece, Kayla Marie Owens of Topeka, KS, nephew, Kyle Alexander Robinson of Lenexa, KS, and Tulsa, OK, and niece, Ashlee Danielle Robinson of Lenexa, KS.
