Sharon Kay Stierwalt

Sharon Kay Stierwalt, 54, of Ottawa, KS, died Monday, April 8, 2002 at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa. She was born August 18, 1947 in Ottawa. Sharon lived in Valley Falls, Kansas during some of her school years, Ottawa from 1960 until 1975, and Paola from 1975 until returning to Ottawa in 1977. She attended her early years of school in Valley Falls and high school in Ottawa and Jefferson County, earning a GED in 1976. Sharon was a homemaker most of her life. She worked at the DeSoto Ammunition Plant in DeSoto, Kansas in 1967 and 1968, and several Ottawa restaurants from 1974 until retiring in 1980 due to her health. Sharon was a four-year member of the Eckan Multi-County Board from1991 until 1995, receiving the honor of Volunteer of the Year in 1995. She was a volunteer for ten years at the Eckan Community Center from 1987 until 1997. On February 27, 1967, Sharon was united in marriage with Joseph Jones at Ottawa, Kansas. They were later divorced. On May 18, 1974, she married Lloyd Stierwalt at Ottawa. They were later divorced. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2002. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Charles Nichols, Jr. IN STATE : Mrs. Stierwalt will lie in state after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Dengel & Son Mortuary until service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Thursday evening.
