Sharon Kay Shepherd was born December 28, 1942, at Seattle, Washington. She was the daughter of Ralph Rollin and Nettie Rebecca (Jones) Robinson. In the 1960's, Sharon lived in California. From 1993 to 1995, she lived in Clarksville, Tennessee, and 1980's to 1993, Middlesboro, Kentucky. In 1995, she moved to Pomona, in Franklin County, Kansas, where she made her home until her death Thursday, February 6, 2003, at the age of sixty years. Sharon graduated from Baldwin Park (California) High School with the class of 1968. She earned a degree in Respiratory Therapy from Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California, and continued her education at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond and Austin Peay University in Clarksville, Tennessee. She was a Respiratory Therapist working as a Day Supervisor at the University of Kansas Medical Center five years. She worked in this profession thirty-one years. Sharon was an active member of Greenwood Baptist Church, playing piano every Sunday. She was very well known for her decorating skills. She has a personal touch on everything in her house. Most important to Sharon were her loving family and grandchildren. On August 12, 1996, Sharon was united in marriage with Gerald Shepherd at Pomona, Kansas. He survives of their home. She is also survived by two sons, Gary Hower and his wife, Terri, of Ottawa, Chel Rich of Lawrence, KS; one daughter, Lori Bell and her husband, Richard, of Pratt, KS; seven sisters, Kathleen Neill and her husband, John, of Michigan Valley, KS, Linda Bradley and her husband, Chuck, of San Francisco, CA, Christina Spring and her husband, Don, of Glenpool, OK, Cindy Cloy and her husband, Richard, of Apollo Beach, FL, Kim Emmett and her husband, Steve, of Knoxville, TN, Nancy Mark and her husband, Dave, of San Francisco, CA, Katie Robinson and her husband, Chris Bayard, of Chicago, IL; two brothers, Mark Robinson of Japan, Rob Robinson of Chicago, IL; one grandson, Corey; four granddaughters, Amber, Paige, Jennifer, Sarah; one great-grandson, Tristan; two stepdaughters, Janet Mathias and her husband, Tim, of Horton, KS, Julie Shepherd of Pomona, KS; stepson, John Shepherd and his wife, Kelly, of Pomona, KS; stepgrandson, Eli; and, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Lynn Hower. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 10, 2003. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Bob Miller. IN STATE: Sharon will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5:00 p.m. Saturday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 5 to 6:00 Sunday evening.
