Sharon Kay Baugher was born August 17, 1939, at Quenemo, Kansas. She was the daughter of Charles and Vivian (Gieber) Norton. A lifelong Franklin County, Kansas resident, she lived most of her life in Ottawa, until her death Saturday, November 24, 2001, at the age of sixty-two years. Sharon graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1957. For the past three years, she has been employed as an office assistant at the Ottawa Department of Social & Rehabilitation Services. Prior to Ottawa, she worked two years at the Lawrence Department of Social & Rehabilitation Services. From September of 1984 to December of 1993, she was employed by Franklin Savings Assoc. as a checking department clerk from 1984 to 1986, and delinquency REJ/REO specialist from 1986 to 1993. She was a bookkeeper at Ottawa Typewriter from June of 1981 to September of 1984 and Ramsey Department Store, Ottawa, from August of 1977 to May of 1981. She also worked for Interstate Securities Co., Ottawa, as cashier from 1961 to 1967, assistant branch manager/collection manager from 1967 to 1972 and branch manager from 1972 to 1975. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and past president of Eisenhower Grade School P.T.A., both of Ottawa. Sharon loved her family and playing with her grandchildren. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's events and watching NFL, NCAA Basketball, and Nascar on T.V. She was also an avid supporter of her daughters' swimming activities. On November 23, 1962, Sharon was united in marriage with Glen 'Shorty' Baugher at Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1996. Also, preceding her in death are her father, Charles Norton, 08/11/72; infant daughter, Glenna Kay Baugher, 02/29/64; brother, Charles 'Chuck' Norton, 10/30/65; and, sister, Charlotte Norton, 08/19/38. She is survived by her mother, Vivian Norton, of Ottawa; two daughters, Susan R. Poelstra and her husband, Jeff, of Ottawa, Pamela D. Powers and her husband, Darren, of Lawrence; four sisters, Jo Conner and her husband, Carl, of Ottawa, Cindy Hopkins and her husband, Bill, of Ottawa, Dot Mollett and her husband, Don, of Ottawa, Debbie Nickel and her husband, David, of Cedar Point; brother, Danny Norton and his wife, Kathy, of Estes Park, Colorado; granddaughter, Ashley Powers; and, two grandsons, Joshua Garr and Christian Poelstra. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, November 28, 2001, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Services will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2001, at 2:30 PM at Highland Cemetery. Rev. William Weber will be officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery on Wednesday, November 28, at 2:30 PM. Memorials can be sent to Franklin County Cancer Foundation
