Sharon Kay Woody, age 63, passed away in the comfort of her own home on October 2nd, 2015. She was surrounded by her loved ones as she made her final journey to meet her Lord and Savior. Born July 31st, 1952, in Lawrence, KS, to Claude and Alice Johnson, Sharon attended Paola High School and graduated in the class of 1970. On December 28th, 1997, she married her best friend Clayton Woody. Sharon made her residence in Linwood, KS on a farm with her husband, Clayton, for the past 19 years. She owned a new construction cleaning business that is still thriving today. She retired in 2004 and was able to enjoy traveling with Clayton to Sprint car races and spending invaluable time with her family. Sharon will be especially remembered for her positive, loving and witty spirit. She grew an impressive garden every summer and enjoyed canning and always gave away more than she kept. She volunteered with the Women's Auxiliary and had a passion for knitting blankets and hats for kids in need at Children's Mercy Hospital. She took great pride in crocheting homemade Barbie wedding dresses for her grandchildren. Music was a big part of her life and she loved singing and dancing to Patsy Cline and one of her favorite songs was "The Old Rugged Cross". Sharon welcomed everyone she met with open arms and made you feel like you've been friends for years, even if you'd just met. She touched so many lives and will be missed tremendously by a great network of family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Clayton Woody, three children Ava Stults and Steve Mitchell of Olathe, Michelle Packard of Olathe, Danny and Jacque Stults of Overland Park, five grandchildren Addison Packard, Cash, Graysen and Maggie Stults, and Miranda Mitchell, siblings Gene Harper Wichita, Edwin Johnson St. Louis, and Wanda Wilson Olathe, as well as many nieces and nephews including greats and great-greats. An open visitation will be held Wednesday, October 7th, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS. A special thanks to the staff at Gentiva Hospice for their help and support. "The best kind of people are the ones that come into your life, and make you see the sun where you once saw clouds. The people that believe in you so much, you start to believe in you too. The people that love you, simply for being you. The once in a lifetime kind of people."
