Sharon Fisher

Sharon Lavonne (Smith) Fisher, age 77, of Osawatomie, Kansas, died Sunday, March 30, 2014. Sharon was born on September 3, 1936 in Williamsburg, Kansas. She was the daughter of Claude E. Smith and Hazel Vivien (Shofner) Smith. Sharon attended Williamsburg schools and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1953. After graduation, she worked in Ottawa, KS. She met her future husband, Bill Fisher, at the Ottawa Roller Rink and they were married in the United Methodist Church of Osawatomie on January 23, 1955. Bill and Sharon then became the parents of two daughters, Kimberly and Tanya. Sharon was a stay at home mother until she went to work at LD Discount Store in downtown Osawatomie. She worked many years at the First National Bank of Osawatomie as a teller. During her years there, she met many wonderful friends and had the opportunity to take many bank trips. Her favorite was traveling to Boston with her good friends. In her early married years, she was a devoted bowler and bowled on a league for many years. Sharon became an avid golfer and spent most evenings after work on the golf course as well as the weekends. She loved getting the chance to take her grandchildren golfing when she could. Sharon was a member of the First United Methodist Church and served on committees for the church. She was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, the Lions, and enjoyed the work with the organization. After she retired from the bank, she was a volunteer Foster Grandparent and loved working with the Preschool children at Swenson School. She loved traveling and spending time with her family. She was always to be found supporting her grandchildren in their activities. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill, in 2010, her sister, Joan Prier-Kirk of Shell Knob, MO, her brother, Claude (Bud) Smith, Jr. of Louisburg, KS. Surviving are her brother, Stanley (Rich) Smith of Apache Junction, AZ, her daughters, Kimberly and Eric Pringle of Temple, TX, and Tanya and Rodney Madden of Osawatomie, KS, her 4 grandchildren, Zach and Alyssa Madden, Lacey and Blake Draper, Haley and Cody Shaver, and Darbey Madden, and her 3 great grandchildren, Lily-Jo Draper, Tripp Shaver, and Barrett Draper.
