Scott Prothe, 54, of Paola, KS, passed away March 21st, 2017. He was born on August 17th, 1962 in Paola and was baptized by Pastor Naegele at the First Lutheran Church. Scott was also confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in Paola by Pastor Krout on May 19, 1976. Scott grew up near Paola and attended elementary school at the First Lutheran School. His high school years were spent at Paola High School where he graduated with the class of 1980. Following high school, he earned an HVAC degree from Pittsburg State University. Scott began his career in HVAC by working for AB May for 14 years then began his own business in 1993. He owned and successfully operated Environmental Systems Heating and Cooling, Inc. in Paola for 25 years. Scott married the love of his life, Kelly Randel on October 12th, 1991 in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Block. They made their home in Paola and became the parents of two children Michael and Sydney. They made their second home in Buckeye, Arizona for the past six years. Scott enjoyed playing pool and golfing. He was a sports fanatic, throughout the years he followed KU Basketball, Royals baseball, and the Kansas City Chiefs. Traveling was another favorite pastime he enjoyed. While traveling it was rare that Scott did not see a familiar face. Surviving family includes, wife, Kelly Prothe, son, Michael Prothe, daughter, Sydney Prothe, mother, Clarene Prothe, father, Roger Prothe, beloved pet, Sophie Prothe, grand-dog, Jeffry Prothe, brother, Ron Prothe and wife Brenda Prothe, sister, LeAnne Larsen and husband Jeff Larsen, mother-in-law Sherry Rhine, the most amazing nieces, nephews, and other relatives, also a host of wonderful friends. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 25th, 2017 at the First Lutheran Church, 401 E. Piankishaw St., Paola, KS, 66071. The Prothe family encourages all to attend a Celebration of Scott’s Life at 1:00 p.m. at the Paola Country Club.
