Scott Alan Nordick, age 63, of rural Osawatomie, Kansas, formerly of Denver, Colorado, died Sunday, November 29, 2015 at his home. Scott was the youngest of three children born to Clarence J. and Doris (Bergh) Nordick on January 31, 1952 in Denver, Colorado. He graduated from Arvada High School and continued his education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Colorado in 1976. Above all else, Scott was a family man and was very proud of his sons, Josh and Michael, and daughters, Kristen and Chelsea, as well as his 5 stepdaughters and 15 grandchildren. He loved sitting on his back porch, looking out at the ponds and talking with the children and grandchildren. He was married to Sandra Rodenbaugh on May 26, 2007 in Littleton, Colorado. In 2012, they built their dream home on 40 acres of land in rural Osawatomie where they started their own farm and have resided since. After college, Scott and his friend Doug Lillibridge started their own business, Norbridge Construction, where they constructed many houses in the Denver area. He then worked as a structural engineer for several companies in several states, including Parsons Brinckerhoff Engineering and Samuel Engineering. Scott was licensed in six states and Canada. While working for Samuel Engineering, he spent time in Canada constructing a building for salt processing, and evaluated the stability of the rock processing structure used to remove gold in Ghana, Africa. He retired in 2012. Scott had a fascination with model trains and tractors. When it came to sports, Colorado was his fan base, especially the Avalanche hockey team and the Broncos football team. Scott enjoyed reading all kinds of book, but favored Lee Child and George R. R. Martin. Other interests included fly fishing and camping in the Colorado Rockies. He had several pets; dogs, cats, and (more recently) chickens and Angus cows. Scott"s lively personality endeared him to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Douglas Nordick, and his sister Rebecca Green. He is survived by his wife Sandi; sons Josh of Denver, Colorado and Michael of Seattle, WA; daughters Kristen N. Cordova and Chelsea Nordick of Denver, Colorado; five step-daughters Rhonda Janssen of Poquoson, VA, Alicia Pelten of Charlotte, NC, Rachel Palomaki of Oshkosh, WI, Tiffoni Arthur of Albuquerque, NM, and Angela Davis of Pensacola, FL; fifteen grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
