Scott L. Carpenter

Scott Carpenter, 58, passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 15, 2014, at Breckenridge, Colorado. Cremation is planned. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 30, 2014, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. Scott was born on Saturday, May 19, 1956, in Ottawa, Kansas, the beloved son of Bob & Barbara Carpenter of Gardner, Kansas. He grew up in Ottawa and graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1974 and continued his education at Fort Scott Community College. In 1978, Scott moved to Breckenridge. Survivors include his parents; sister, Cara Carpenter of Gardner; aunt, Pat Harris and husband Chuck of Huntington Beach, California; uncle, Tom Hickman and wife Barbara of Ottawa; and several cousins. Scott was a builder in the Breckenridge area, where he built his own home, filling it with collected antiques. He was the ultimate mountain man and loved all of nature and the outdoors.
