Scott Dee Allen, age 55, of rural Paola, Kansas, died September 5, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family after an extended battle with cancer. Scott was born October 11, 1955 at Fort Scott, Kansas. He was the oldest of five children born to Carol (Winter) and T.J. Allen, Jr. Scott graduated from Prairie View High School with the Class of 1973. He was united in marriage to Joyce Marie Stainbrook on November 25, 1978 in the Christian Church at LaCygne, Kansas. They made their home in Paola and became the parents of two children. Scott initially worked as a union carpenter and was later employed by Scott Rice. He worked for Marion Laboratories and most recently, he had worked for Commercial Installation as their general manager. Scott enjoyed hunting deer, quail, turkey, pheasant, and dove with Mark, Travis, and Wilbur as well as other family members. Scott also enjoyed boating, water skiing, and the annual Allen family trip to Pomme de Terre Lake. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Fontana. He was also a member of the Carpenter"s Union. He was preceded in death by his mother and one grandson Michael Lynn Allen. He is survived by his father T. J. Allen, Jr. of Fontana; his wife Joyce; his son Travis and daughter-in-law Amy of Paola; his daughter Tara Allen of Lenexa; his grandson Lane Allen; two brothers Mark Allen and his wife Chili of Fontana, John Allen of Paola; two sisters Brenda and Phil Mosley of Paola and Connie and Robert Abel of Winchester, KS; his father and mother-in-law Wilbur and Ruth Ellen Stainbrook of LaCygne; many other relatives and friends.
