Sarah L. Shaffer

Sarah L. Shaffer, 81, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2015, at Ottawa Retirement Village. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Williamsburg, Kansas. Sarah was born Saturday, October 13, 1934, in Homewood, Kansas, the daughter of William and Hattie (Phinney) Shaffer. She was a lifelong Franklin County resident moving in 1938 to Ottawa. Survivors include her two brothers, Ben Shaffer and wife Florence of Great Bend, Kansas, and Cal Shaffer and wife Dorothy of Ottawa; brother-in-law, Larry Reeves of Benton, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her five siblings, Georgia Fisher, Lois Blackburn, Bill Shaffer, Helen Rempel, and Florence Reeves; great niece, Buffy Thompson; and great-great nephew, Luke Calvin. Sarah was a homemaker providing love to her family and friends. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren.
