Sara D. Boggs, 80, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Olathe Medical Center. Graveside service and inurnment will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Williamsburg, Kansas. Sara was born Wednesday, March 4, 1936, in Chautauqua, Kansas, the daughter of John William and Nellie Marie (Tricks) Bays. She lived in the Independence, and Wayside, Kansas, area most of her life, with a short time in Tyler, Texas. In 2003, Sara moved to Pomona, until moving to Ottawa, where she made her home until her death. She graduated from Independence High School, Independence, Kansas, with the class of 1953. Sara was united in marriage to Carl Lynn Boggs October 2, 1954, in Independence, Kansas. They later divorced, but remained friends. Survivors include her two children, Chris Boggs and wife Patti of Quenemo, and Connie Roberts and husband Marc of Williamsburg; seven grandchildren, Jason Boggs of Olathe, Nathan Boggs and Sara Huske of Williamsburg, Matthew Boggs and fiancé Breann Hill of Topeka, Sara Rich and husband Wes of Sugar Grove, North Carolina, Amy Rich and Brandon of Leoti, Ty Rich and wife Katie of Gridley, and Chad Roberts and wife Mandi of Stover, Missouri; and six great grandchildren, Braden Gillird, Zoe Boggs, Tatym Boggs, Easton Rich, Delaney Rich, and Case Roberts. She was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband; and siblings, Donna Ellis, Duane Bays, Floyd Bays, and John Bays. Sara was employed as a factory assembler for King Radio in Ottawa from the late 1970s to mid- 1980s. She worked for Automotive Control Corp. of Independence, Kansas, later known as Dana Electronics, from 1981 until her retirement in 2003. She then moved from Independence to Pomona to be close to her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5901 Auxiliary. Sara loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed the outdoors, animals, playing Pitch and card games, Yahtzee, dancing, old country music, flowers, plants and garage sales.
