Sandra S. "Sandy" Griffin

Sandy Griffin, 76, of Ottawa, passed away Friday October 4, 2019, at Rock Creek of Ottawa. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at the Pomona Assembly of God Church, Pomona, Kansas. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona. Sandy was born July 26, 1943, in Garnett, Kansas, the daughter of Robert and Sylvia (Johnson) Barker. She moved from Garnett to Pomona where she lived for 39 years then moving to Ottawa in 2009. Sandy was united in marriage to Pearl Patterson, Jr. in 1960 they later divorced. Her second marriage for 39 years was to Larry C. Griffin on May 21, 1972 in Pomona, Kansas. They later divorced. Survivors include four children, Dean W. Patterson and wife Sherri of Yelm, Washington, Benita K. Bowman and husband David of Pomona, Tonya P. Simms and husband Bobby also of Pomona, Tresha D. Wilson and husband Larry of Jetmore, Kansas and 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Sylvia Barker; sister, Darlene; and grandson, Marcus McGee-Simms. She worked for H.D. Lee as a seamstress in the early 1970’s then as an assembler for King Radio from the late 1970’s to mid-1980’s. Sandy also operated a daycare out of her home in Pomona, caring for many local children. Sandy was a member of Pomona Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed passing the time knitting, sewing, painting and doing puzzles. Sandy especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
