Sandra Kay Sage was born November 12, 1952, at Holton, Kansas. She was the daughter of Robert Orin and Lois Maxine (Gunselman) Sumner. A lifelong resident, Sandra made her home in Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas, until her death Thursday, November 14, 2002, at the age of fifty years. Sandra graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1970. For the past three years, Sandra has been employed as a painter for Fashion, Inc., of Ottawa. She was previously employed by several local employers, including, H.D. Lee, from 1970 to 1988, King Radio, 1988 to 1995, and, Midwest Cabinets, 1995 to 1999. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901 Auxiliary of Ottawa. Sandra enjoyed the outdoors, going horseback riding and fishing. She liked listening to country music and watching movies. She greatly enjoyed the company of her great nieces and nephews and loved spending time with her family and friends. The joy of Sandra's life, however, was her son, Travis. She was so proud of him. In February of 1982, Sandra was united in marriage with Russell Sage at Manhattan, Kansas. They later divorced. She is survived by her mother, Lois Sumner, of Carbondale, Kansas; son, Travis Sage of Lawrence, Kansas; two brothers, Dennis Sumner and his wife, Cathy, of Ottawa, Kansas, Melvin Sumner of Ottawa, Kansas; sister, Kathy Smith and her husband, Ronald, of Carbondale, Kansas; and, several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father. SERVICES: Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 18, 2002, at Evergreen Mound Cemetery. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Clyde Greisen. IN STATE: Mrs. Sage will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 10:00 a.m. Saturday to the service hour. CEMETERY: Evergreen Mound Cemetery, Franklin County, Kansas.
