Sandra Jo Thornburg

Sandra Jo Thornburg was born on Sunday, February 18, 1951, in Anamosa, Iowa. She was the daughter of Arthur and Kristina (Matejika) Schnepp. Sandra lived in Olin, Iowa for many years, moving to the Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas area in 1991, where she made her home until her death on Saturday, October 20, 2007, at the age of fifty-six years. Sandra graduated from Olin High School, Olin, Iowa, with the class of 1969. She was a homemaker. On occasion, Sandra was a clerical worker and bank teller. Sandra was an outgoing, energetic person who enjoyed life and adored her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was always playing pranks and jokes. She created lovely cross-stitch and knitted items for others to enjoy and also liked to read, while enjoying the companionship of her dog, Missy. In the early 1970's, Sandra was united in marriage with Dennis Albaugh. He preceded her in death. In 1989, she was united in marriage with Lloyd Thornburg in Anamosa, Iowa. He survives of their home. She is also survived by two daughters, Brandie Wright and her husband, Scottie, of Oskaloosa, Kansas, Shelby Lea Thornburg of Ottawa; stepdaughter, Jenny Elliott and her husband, Greg, of Olathe, Kansas; stepson, Joe Thornburg of Lawrence, Kansas; sister, Adrienne Rickels and her companion, Greg Gerdes of Olin, Iowa; grandson, Brodie Wright of Oskaloosa, Kansas; two step granddaughters; mother-in-law, Judy Albaugh of Mechanicsville, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Dennis Albaugh; and brother, Stew Schnepp. SERVICES: Family and friends will meet at the Lahey Funeral Home, Olin, Iowa at 10:00 am Friday, October 26, 2007 for visitation followed by funeral services at 11:00 am. IN STATE: Family and friends will meet at the Dengel & Son Mortuary 4:00 pm, Tuesday, October 23, 2007 for a family visitation. CEMETERY: Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Mt Vernon, Iowa.
