Sandra Jewell 'Sandy' Wolfe was born June 13, 1944, at Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas. She was the daughter of John Calvert and A. Loraine (Browning) Elder. Sandy grew up in Ottawa. For a period of time, she lived in Arizona, before moving to Topeka, Kansas, where she made her home until her death Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at the age of fifty-eight years. She graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1962 and, in 1964, received her certification as an X-Ray Technician through Stormont-Vail in Topeka. Sandy was a homemaker and office assistant for the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod District Office, American Red Cross, and Piper Jaffray, all of Topeka. She was a former member of First Christian Church of Ottawa. Sandy was very creative, with a wonderful eye for color and style, and that creativity was very evident in the special touches she used in decorating her home. She painted for her own enjoyment and shared special paintings with her family over the years. For a time, she taught painting classes in Topeka. Sandy had a wonderful sense of humor and always enjoyed a good joke or story. She loved her family and really enjoyed being a 'Grammy'. Through the years, she always had a special place in her heart for cats and, hers were always more than just pets, they were members of the family. For the past several years, she shared her home with her cats, Vinny and Tawkie. On August 28, 1964, Sandy was united in marriage with Lewis Allen Wolfe at Ottawa, Kansas. They were later divorced. She is survived by her parents, John and Loraine Elder of Ottawa; son, Timothy Allen Wolfe and his wife, Cindy, of Raymore, Missouri; brother, Hiram D. 'Bud' Elder and his wife, Carolyn, of Ottawa; two grandsons, Christian Allen John Wolfe and Travis Wolfe, both of Raymore; and, three nieces, Trisha Kaub and her husband, Dan, of Ottawa, Traci Martin and her husband, Mike, of Odessa, Texas, and, Tori Wilson and her husband, Russ, of Ottawa. She is preceded in death by her infant brother, John Calvert Elder, Jr. on August 1, 1951. SERVICES: Memorial services will be held at the Dengel & Son Mortuary, 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2003. Private inurnment will be held at a later date. OFFICIANT: Rev. Katrina Palan IN STATE: Mrs. Wolfe has been cremated. CEMETERY: Greenwood Cemetery, Franklin County, Kansas.
