Samuel E. Tipton, age 67, of Williamsburg, Kansas, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas surrounded by his loving family..
Memorial services will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, January 19, 2024, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Family will greet friends following services at the mortuary.
Sam was born on Tuesday, March 13, 1956 in Kansas City, Missouri, to Samuel Daniel and Eleanor (Suddarth) Tipton.
He lived in Newton, Kansas from the mid-1970s moving to the Williamsburg area in 1984.
Sam earned his G.E.D. and obtained some college credit.
On June 11, 1977, Sam was united in marriage with Donna J. Sartain at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kansas. She survives of their home.
He worked for Asplundh from 1984 until 2012 before becoming a self-employed lift inspector contractor and owning Tiptons, Inc. from 2012-2022.
Sam was a member of Hope Anthem Church and a former city council member in Williamsburg.
He liked fishing, building things, playing horse shoes and washers, and relaxing with friends and family. Sam especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Eleanor Tipton; sisters Mary Coffman, Anna Tate, and Rose Schoonover; niece Becky Riemer; and nephew Michael Riemer.
Survivors include wife Donna of Williamsburg, Kansas; daughters Teresa Tucker (Seth) of Princeton, Kansas, Amy Carlson (Matthew) of Williamsburg, Kansas, Amanda Stinebaugh (John) of Williamsburg, Kansas and Angela Magrath (Josh) of Edmond, Oklahoma; siblings Susan Riemer (Richard) of Ottawa, Kansas, Daniel Tipton of Palisade, Colorado, Dinah Atchison (Clyde), Laura Pacheco (Rick Roth), Christina Brewer (Jeff), and David Tipton (Cyndi) all of Ottawa, Kansas; two brothers-in-law Alvie Tate and J.W. Schoonover both of Ottawa, Kansas; ten grandchildren Dakota Tucker (Lauren), Sierra Tucker, Taylor Steck (Mason), Cody Carlson, Raegan Magrath, Stephen Magrath, Jasper Magrath, Gidian Stinebaugh, Kemper Magrath, and Roselynn Stinebaugh; three foster grandchildren; great grandson Luke Tucker; great granddaughter Bryar Steck; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
