Samuel Daniel Tipton

Samuel Daniel Tipton, 86, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014, at Richmond Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Tipton at Dengel & Son Mortuary from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, October 9, 2014, where the family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday. Celebration of Life services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 10, 2014, at Crosspointe Community Church 3085 Marshall Road, Ottawa. Interment Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, Missouri. Samuel was born on Wednesday, May 16, 1928, in Fairland, Oklahoma, the son of Reuben Edward and Georgia Lee (Hood) Tipton. He grew up in Oklahoma, moving to Peculiar, Missouri, in 1942, living in several cities before moving to Ottawa, Kansas, in 1969. Sam was united in marriage with Eleanor Rosalee Suddarth June 24, 1951, in Huntsville, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on August 27, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Dean, Billy and Paul Tipton; two sisters, Margaret Bruce and Beulah Magnuson; granddaughter, Rebecca Riemer; grandson, Michael Riemer; and great-grandson, Brandon Q. Davidson. Survivors include his ten children, Mary Coffman and husband Curtis of Ottawa; Susie Riemer and husband Richard of Ottawa; Anna Tate and husband Alvie of Ottawa; Samuel Tipton and wife Donna of Williamsburg; Daniel Tipton of Palisade, Colorado; Rose Schoonover and husband J. W. of Ottawa; Laura Pacheco and Ricky Roth of Ottawa; Dinah Atchison and husband Clyde of Ottawa; Christina Brewer and husband Jeff of Ottawa; and David Tipton of Ottawa; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Sam worked in Olathe, at the Marley Company, building cooling tower systems. He worked in Ottawa for Fogle Quarry, prior to working twenty-six years for Ottawa Truck, retiring July 1, 1994. He continued to work there part-time. Sam was a member of Crosspointe Community Church in Ottawa.
