Ruth Nadine Moore, 91, of Ottawa, passed away, Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Ransom Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 1, 2019, at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. The family will meet with friends from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., Sunday, March 31, 2019, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Ruth was born on Thursday, September 1, 1927 in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Otis and Lottie Marie (Phillips) Burnett. She was a lifelong Ottawa resident and attended Ottawa schools. Ruth helped start the Head Start Program in Ottawa, where she volunteered and was president thirteen years while her children were going through the program. She was a Cub Scout leader for several years and a Brownie leader seven years; volunteered for the ECKAN office five years and has continued as a volunteer until the present time, helping with the commodities distributions; was a member of Bethany Chapel Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Memorial Post 5901Auxiliary, serving as president and hospitality chairman and former member of Eugene PTA. Ruth was united in marriage to Norman Clifford Moore July 27, 1942 at Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 28, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Lottie Burnett; sons, Clinton and Clifford Moore; companion, Jesse Hamblin; brothers, Roy, Clyde and Bob Burnett; sisters, Katie Langan and Patricia Crawford; granddaughter, Jaymie Moore; grandsons, Damaen Avery, Clinton Dean Moore and Devin Moore; and stepsister, Myrtle Toumberlin. She is survived by her four sons, Michael Moore and wife Deborah of Pomona, Norman "Bud' Moore and wife Janice of Princeton, Darrell Moore and wife Dana of Ottawa, and Jamie Moore and wife Dee of Ottawa; seven daughters, Jan Smith and husband Virgil of Ottawa, Glenda Yates and husband Ron of Gardner, Linda Leach and husband Don of Ottawa, Kathy Leach of Ottawa, Pam Strickland and husband Steve of Ottawa, Sandra Gilliam of Ottawa, and Debra Harker of Tonganoxie; stepson, Jesse Hamblin Jr. and wife Judy of Richmond; two brothers, Billie Burnett and wife Shirley of Ottawa and Otis Burnett of Platte City, Missouri; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was a homemaker and worked two years in the lunch program at Eugene Field School. The family suggests memorial contributions to VFW Post 5901 Auxiliary c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
