Ruth M. Jacobs

Ruth M. Jacobs, age 68, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Thursday, July 02, 2009, at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa, KS. She was born on Monday, April 28, 1941, in Belton, MO, the daughter of Ralph and Cora Hala (Noyes)Thuro. She has been a resident of Ottawa for most of her adult life. Ruth graduated from Paola High School with the class of 1959. She owned and operated Ottawa Taxi for 21 years, retiring in 2002. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Extension Homemakers Unit, a Girl Scout leader, and Cub Scout Pack leader, all of Ottawa. She was also a regular in the Ottawa Bowling Leagues. In 1958, Ruth was united in marriage with Melvin Hoover. They later divorced. In 1981, she was united in marriage with Norman Jacobs, they later divorced. Survivors include a daughter, Arlina Alexander, Ottawa, sons, Brandon Jacobs, Ottawa, and Farold Hoover, Oxford; a brother, Dwight Thuro, Wellsville; sisters, Jean Wood, Ottawa, and Jenny Thane, Navasota, Texas; eight grandchildren; Dustin Weien, Devin Weien, LaDonna Leach, Cody Weien, Mitchell Hoover, Tyler Hoover, Erin Hoover, Zayden Jacobs and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tinika Weien. A Memorial Service will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2009.
