Ruth L Kaub, age 95, passed away Tuesday January 7, 2025 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Missouri.

Family and friends will meet Monday, January 20, 2025 at Dengel & Son Mortuary, in Ottawa for a visitation from 10-11am with funeral services immediately following. Interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, west of Centropolis.

Ruth was born in Omaha, Nebraska May 13, 1929, the daughter of Russell Harrison Klein and Clara Bell (Burke) Klein. She was a lifelong resident of Ottawa until moving to the Parkway Senior Living Center in Blue Springs, Missouri to be close to her son and daughter-in-law.

She was united in marriage on June 11, 1950 in Ottawa, Kansas to Fred I. Kaub. He preceded her in death on November 29, 2017.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and son Fred E. Kaub.

Survivors include son Steven R. Kaub and wife Loretto (Ray) of Blue Springs, Missouri; grandson Brian A. Kaub, of Blue Springs; grandson Byron T. Ray, of Olathe; grandson Jesse L. Ray, of Blue Springs; grandson Arron C. Ray, of Blue Springs. Ruth also had five very special great-grandchildren who meant the world to her; Emma, Evan, Alina, Vivien, and Jude. Anytime they would visit her she would light up with a thousand-watt smile. Ruth also is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Ruth graduated from Kansas University Medical Center Department of Nursing in 1950. She was a lifelong nurse working in hospitals in the operating room, as a floor nurse and also as a school nurse in Ottawa. The nurse at the Parkway who cared for her related a story of another resident who fell in the dining room one day and Ruth stayed by him to render aid. She said, “I was a nurse I know what to do.” She had a very caring heart and wanted to help people up to her last day. She was a longtime member of North Baptist Church in Ottawa, helping with building the new church back in the 1950’s. She taught Sunday School and Bible School and was President of American Baptist Women for many years. She was also a Cub Scout den mother and den leader for her son’s den. She was involved and helpful her entire life. She loved playing volleyball, swimming and traveling with her husband.
