Ruth Elaine Jamison

Ruth Elaine Jamison was born on Friday, December 27, 1929, in Quinter, Kansas. She was the daughter of Joseph M. and Ruth M. (Miller) Jamison. She passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2008, at the age of seventy-eight years. Elaine attended elementary school in Quinter, Kansas, and was graduated from Quinter High School with the class of 1947. In 1948, she moved with her family to Kearney, Nebraska, where she was graduated from Kearney State Teachers College. She served with the Brethren Volunteer Service in Elgin, Illinois, and later with the BVS at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. From 1961 to 1983, she worked as a cytotechnician at St. Luke's and the Cleveland Metropolitan hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio. Elaine was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 1980 and retired in 1987. After living at St. Augustine's Assisted Living in Cleveland, Ohio for five years, she moved in 2001 to the Ottawa Retirement Village in Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas, where she made her home until her death. Elaine is survived by her brother, Jay Jamison of Richmond, Kansas; sister and brother-in-law, Roselyn and Ronald Wohlken of Media, Pennsylvania; two nephews, Jay Wohlken and his wife and daughter; Luhr Wohlken; and many cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents. Elaine cherished her memories of Quinter. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2008 at the Quinter Church of the Brethren, Quinter, Kansas with a visitation at 9:45 a.m. prior to the service. CEMETERY: A private family burial will be at the Quinter Cemetery in Quinter, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to the Parkinson`s Foundation or Donor`s Choice, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory Street in Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
