Ruth Elizabeth Haas, age 97 of Ottawa, passed away, Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Azria Health, Olathe, Kansas. Family will meet with friends at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Dengel & Son Mortuary and then process to Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, for a graveside service at 10:30 a.m. Ruth was born Wednesday, April 5, 1922 in Osawatomie, Kansas, the daughter of William Lewis and Ada Mae (Sutherland) Beebe. She grew up in Miami County, Kansas, moving to Richter in 1970, and then to Ottawa in June of 1991. Ruth graduated from Wellsville High School, Wellsville, Kansas with the class of 1940. She was a member of Richter United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, an Extension Homemaker Unit, the Oasis Club and Rebekah Lodge # 175. Ruth was a 25 year member of the Ransom Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where she was awarded Auxiliary of the Year and the Frances Swift Distinguished Service Award. On December 25, 1942 Ruth was united in marriage with Bruce B. Devin at Ottawa. He preceded her in death in 1973. On Sunday, June 29, 1975, Ruth was united in marriage with Theodore "Ted" Joseph Haas at Ottawa. He preceded her in death on November 28, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents, William and Ada Beebe and her sisters, Edith Benedict and Mabel Stokes; and stepdaughter, Deeanna Ammel. She is survived by her daughters, Juanita Robinson and her husband, Sylvester, of Ottawa, Joyce Johnson and her husband, Wes of Le Loup and Janice Gregg and her husband, Bill, of Ottawa; stepson, Joseph Haas of Prescott, Kansas and stepdaughters, Marilyn Chance of Cambridgeshire, England, and Cheryl Steinman of Ottawa. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Ruth was a homemaker and worked sixteen years as a production worker at Parmalee Products in Ottawa.
