Ruth E. Bailey

Ruth E. Bailey, age 84, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Village Manor Nursing Home in Ottawa. She was born on Friday, September 5, 1924, in New Hampton, Missouri. She was the daughter of Floyd A. and Carrie B. (Denny) Bishop. She was a resident of Ottawa since 1996, moving from Tulsa, Oklahoma. She had also lived many years in Long Beach, California. Ruth graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1943, and Kansas City Business College. From the 1940’s through 1980’s, Ruth was a receptionist/secretary for the Folgers Coffee Co. in Kansas City, Missouri, Datsun & Fiat Auto Manufacturing Co. in Long Beach, California, and the Oil Industry in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was a member of Tauy Baptist Church. On Sunday, February 19, 1950, Ruth was united in marriage with Ivan Harold Bailey in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on June 14, 1994. She is survived by: Nephew-Gary Colbern & his wife, Lori, Wellsville, KS Nephew-Gregg Colbern & his wife, Bev, Ottawa, KS Great Nieces & Nephews-Several Stepson-Gerald Bailey, Kansas City, MO Stepdaughter-Janet Cerniglia, Kansas City, MO Step grandchildren-Several Step great-grandchildren-Several She was preceded in death by: Husband-Ivan Harold Bailey Father-Floyd A. Bishop Mother-Carrie B. (Denny) Bishop Sister-Doris Colbern-Robbins SERVICES: Graveside services will be held at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2009. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Bailey at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas.
