Ruby Pederson was born October 20, 1905, in Renfro, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of John and Marie (Peterson) Mayse. In the 1932, Ruby and her husband moved from Medford, Oklahoma to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas, where she made her home until her death Thursday, March 14, 2002, at the age of ninety-six years. Ruby graduated from Medford High School with the class of 1924. She was a homemaker and helped her husband with fieldwork and livestock on the family farm. Ruby enjoyed being outdoors, mowing grass and doing yard work. On May 28, 1927 Ruby was united in marriage with Thomas Y. Pederson at Wichita, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1997. Also, preceding her in death are her parents; daughter, Tomalea Pederson in 1990; an infant daughter; brother, Fred Mayse; sister, Edith Boyer; granddaughter, Paulie Pacheco; and great-granddaughter, Ivy Pacheco, both in April, 1997. She is survived by her daughters, Wanda Pederson, Gwendola Ann Chandler, and Inger Showalter, all of Ottawa; Deloris Marie Davidson, of Admire, Kansas, and Joyce Darleen Salsbury of Spokane, Washington; grandsons, Shon Showalter, Cody Showalter, Dana Salsbury, and James W. Chandler; granddaughters, Marlo Showalter, Amber Herron, Laurie Davidson, Sheri Ellwood, Stacy Bester, and Christine Chandler; sixteen great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter. SERVICES: Family and friends will meet at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, for graveside service 2:00pm Monday, March 18, 2002. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. James D. Herron IN STATE: Mrs. Pederson will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00pm Saturday and Sunday to the service hour. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery.
