Ruby grew up and lived in the Gardner and Edgerton, Kansas area until after her marriage, moving to Westwood in the Kansas City area, and to Ottawa in April of 1967. They lived in Ottawa for three years before moving to Pomona. In 1999, she moved to Osage City, Kansas. She graduated from Gardner High School in Gardner, Kansas and Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas, with a Bachelor`s Degree in Education. Ruby taught in country schools, as well as in Olathe and Gardner, retiring in 1969. In 1968, she was recognized as Master Teacher of Kansas. Ruby was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, the Builders Group, and was an Elder of the church. She was a twenty-three year member of the Better Homes Unit of Extension Homemakers Unit, and also belonged to the Kansas Wild Flower Association. In later years, she was active with her husband, Herb, in building and rural real estate. On December 23, 1966, Ruby was united in marriage with Herbert R. `Herb` Coday at Gardner, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 26, 1999. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa, 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2005. OFFICIANT: Rev. Clifford E. Burke. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Coday after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Dengel & Son Mortuary, where family will meet with friends at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. CEMETERY: Private graveside services at Fort Riley, Kansas.
