Ruben L. Miller

Ruben L. Miller, 93 of Paola, passed away August 31, 2010 at North Point Nursing Center. He was born on April 18, 1917 in Hepler, KS to Otto Fred and Mathilda Granneman Miller. On February 4, 1940 he was united in marriage to Hulda Elnora Ohlmeier in Block, KS; she preceded him in death in 1984. He was married to Evelyn Minden in 1989 who preceded him in death in 1998. He went to work for J & J Metal company and went on to work for Doherty Steel, where he retired from in 1982. While working a full time job, Ruben farmed and raised cattle. Ruben enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching the Royals, watching boxing, watching westerns, watching his grandchildren play sports; music was his joy, playing guitar, harmonica and singing. He is preceded in death by his parents; two wives; one granddaughter, Jesica; a sister, Opal Weber; and two brothers, Lorenz Miller and Hershel Miller. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his children; daughter, LaVeta Brown and husband Melvin of Paola; son, Orval and wife Karen of Paola; son, Duaine and wife Susie of Fontana; daughter, Iris Simons and husband Hal of Paola; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
