Rose Marie Schoonover

August 14, 1960 — July 22, 2021

Rose Marie Schoonover, age 60, of Ottawa, Kansas, entered Heaven July 22, 2021. Family will meet with friends at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Ottawa University Fredrickson Chapel followed by a Celebration of Life service at 12:00 noon. Rose was born August 14, 1960, to Samuel and Eleanor Tipton. Rose married her husband of 40 years, J.W. Schoonover, July 19, 1980. Rose loved to love on people and was one of the best huggers you could possibly meet. She devoted her life to her family and loved being a caretaker. Her smile was a pure display of her heart. Her hands were rarely still as she was always lending them to help someone else. She loved Jesus and was not afraid to share him with anyone she would meet; and if you needed prayer, boy was she bold in her prayers! For most of her life Rose was a caretaker. While raising her own kids, she ended up raising their friends’ kids too. There was not a friend or kid in the neighborhood that didn’t want to be at Rose’s house. She attended Crosspointe Community Church since 1991. Psalm 91 is full of promises that Rose held onto. vs 1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. vs 2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust. Regardless of what life handed her, Rose never wavered in her trust in God! Rose was preceded in death by her father Samuel D. Tipton, mother Eleanor R. Tipton, and two sisters, Mary Coffman and Anna Tate. She is survived by her husband J.W., daughter and son-in law Lisa Ann and Troy Marez, daughter Leslie Marie Miller; grandchildren, Savanna Marez and fiancé Ryan Rayner, Rami Miller, Troy Marez Jr. and wife Melanie, Sterling Miller, Santana Marez, Trinity Marez, Kierra Miller and Andrew Marez; plus 4 great grandchildren, Carlos Marez, Naomi Marez, Nixon Marez & Andrew Marez Jr.; her siblings, sister and husband Susan & Richard Riemer, brother and wife Samuel & Donna Tipton, brother-in-law Alvie Tate, brother Daniel Tipton, sister Laura Pacheco & Ricky Roth, sister and husband Dinah & Clyde Atchison, sister and husband Christina and Jeff Brewer, brother and wife David and Cyndi Tipton and many nieces and nephews.
