Rose Ella Shaver

December 31, 1947 — May 7, 2010

Rose Ella Shaver, 81 of Paola, passed away May 7, 2010 at Olathe Medical Center. Rose Ella was born November 2, 1928 to Robert and Rose Christian in Atchison, Kansas. She was married to Dick Shaver on December 31, 1947 at the Sacred Heart Church in Atchison. Most of her married life she was a stay at home mother and wife. She never missed a little league game or a basketball game. In fact, she could have been a very good umpire or referee. She seldom agreed with the officials" calls, especially if they were against her sons, Rick and Ron. Rose Ella later worked for Cullerton Cadillac in Chicago and enjoyed the people that she worked with. She dearly loved people and worked tirelessly at helping those who were less fortunate. She was a firm believer in being "my brother"s keeper" and felt strongly that the more you do for others, the more God does for you. Rose Ella was a very caring person and a tremendous listener. After retiring and moving to Paola, Rose Ella and Dick became involved in the St. Mary Food Kitchen to help feed the less fortunate. They were coordinators from Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She always felt a special peace to see the people get a good meal, especially the children. Mrs. Shaver was also involved in the church and a believer in the Perpetual Adoration Program at Holy Trinity for many years. Rose Ella and Dick moved many times during their married life and she always said that their last move to Paola was the best of all. She was preceded in death by a son, Dean Richard; her parents; sister, Marjorie; and brother, Robert Lee. She is survived by her husband, Dick, of the home; sons, Rick and Ron (Mary); and grandchildren, Richard Dean III "Treye", Elysse Rose, Taylor, and Jordan; and sister Mary Mae Weber of Atchison. She will be greatly missed by her family. Holy Trinity Catholic Church Service: Tuesday, May 11, 2010 10:00 AM Visitation: Monday, May 10, 2010 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM with Rosary 6:00 PM
