Rosa moved with her family in 1910 to Amoret, Missouri; Foster, Missouri in 1912; and Hutchinson, Kansas in 1930, returning to Foster for a short time before her marriage. After her marriage, she and Ellis moved to a little farm northwest of Pleasanton, Kansas. Several years later, they sold their farm and traveled through the western states, visiting relatives and the national parks, with their last stop in Long Beach, California to visit family. They moved to Ottawa in 1956. She graduated from Foster High School in Foster, Missouri with the class of 1920. Rosa was a lifelong homemaker. She also worked as a sales clerk in a grocery and dry goods store in Foster until 1930 and then as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell in Hutchinson, Kansas for a short time. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ottawa. On June 26, 1940, Rosa was united in marriage with Ellis John Maddan at Garnett, Kansas. He preceded her in death January 22, 1966. SERVICES: Graveside funeral services will be held from Highland Cemetery, 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2005. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Roger Noah IN STATE: Mrs. Maddan will lie in state after 9 a.m. Thursday at the Dengel & Son Mortuary to service hour. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery in Ottawa, Kansas.
