Ron Weers, age 64, passed away on December 2, 2008 at 6:40 A.M. He was born at home in Louisburg, Kansas on March 2, 1944 to Fred Weers and Iva Mae Weers (Kerr). Ron grew up in Louisburg and graduated from Louisburg High School in 1961. Ron was married in 1971 to Dixie Kloefkorn and they had two children. Ron served in the National Guard until his unit was called to duty during the Vietnam War. He served as a Staff Sergeant for which he received a Bronze Star with a "V" device for his courageous actions. After returning from the war, Ron started his entrepreneurial career by running Eastside Tavern. He then went to work for Consolidated Construction before forming his own construction company, which he ran for 35 years. Ron also loved to farm, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, playing cards, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Iva Mae Weers, his brothers Fred Edward Weers and David Weers of Louisburg. Ron is survived by son, Ryan Weers of Louisburg, daughter Heather Burch of Louisburg, grandson, Trevor Burch, sister, Nila Campbell of Louisburg; brother, Larry Weers of Louisburg; sister, Kathy Samuelson of Harrisonville, and numerous family and friends. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the Louisburg United Methodist Church 249 N. Metcalf Louisburg, KS 66053. Visitation will be 4:00 " 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2008 at the church. Burial with full military honors in the Louisburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Ron"s memory made to American Legion Post 250 of Louisburg or the American Cancer Society. Louisburg United Methodist Church, 249 N.
