Ronald Steven Schmitt

Ronald Steven 'Ron' Schmitt was born December 12, 1972, at Lawrence, Kansas. He was the son of Patrick Earl and Jeanine (Gillett) Schmitt. He was a lifelong resident of Princeton, Kansas, prior to moving to Gardner, Kansas, two years ago, where he made his home until his death Tuesday, January 13, 2004, at the age of thirty-one years. Ron graduated from Central Heights High School with the class of 1991. He was currently employed by Star Transport, where he had been a driver the past two years. He transported fuel for several companies for several years. An outgoing, enthusiastic person, Ron really enjoyed being with his friends. He was also an outdoorsman, who liked to go fishing and boating. On August 26, 1995, Ron was united in marriage with Leslie Miller at Princeton, Kansas. She survives of their home. He is also survived by his mother, Jeanine Smith and her husband, Gary, of Princeton; daughter, Shelby Schmitt, of the home; stepdaughter, Celia DeLeo of Warren, Ohio; one brother, Robert Schmitt and his wife, Rebecca, of Liberty, Missouri; maternal grandmother, Helen Cronin and her husband, Ray, of Olathe; paternal grandmother, Marian Schmitt of WaKeeney, Kansas; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Patrick Earl Schmitt. SERVICES: Memorial services will be held at a later date. IN STATE: Mr. Schmitt has been cremated. The family will meet with friends at 5:00 Saturday evening at the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa.
