Ronald “Ron” Joseph Reno, 60, of Stilwell, Kansas passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at St. Luke’s South Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 3, 2021, at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Leawood. Family will meet with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Leawood; the Thursday visitation will be held outdoors (weather permitting). Private interment will take place in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Overland Park. Ron was born Friday, August 4, 1961, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of James “Jim” Henry and Lillian (Schingle) Reno. Ron graduated from Blue Valley High School in 1979 and the University of Kansas in 1983. Ron was united in marriage to Nancy Rehbehn on July 2, 1983 at the Wea Catholic Church in Bucyrus. They made their home in Tulsa, Oklahoma for three years and then moved to Stilwell, Kansas. They became the parents of three children: Katherine, Steven, and Amanda. Ron worked for APAC of Kansas, Reno Construction Division for 28 years. He was currently working at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church as the Children’s Ministry Director for the past 6 years. Ron was a hard-working man who loved his family and God fiercely. He loved to laugh and to make others laugh, and would often laugh until he cried, making those around him do the same. He was passionate about living his life in the image of God and helping others do the same. He was very involved in mission work through the church as well as his work with the Youth Ministry. He loved his job as a Children’s Ministry Director, teaching the Word of God to children, and creating an environment of joy and laughter. Ron enjoyed being outdoors, horses, woodworking, and working with his hands. He had amazing craftsmanship skills and could build or fix anything and come up with a creative solution for any problem. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Eugene “Gene” and Lillian Rehbehn and his sister-in-law Barbara Dargon. Survivors include his parents Jim and Lillian Reno of Stilwell; wife Nancy of the home; his children Katherine Susan (Andrew) Bacon of Stilwell, Steven Daniel Reno and his fiancée Abbey Johnson of Mission, and Amanda Michelle Reno of Overland Park; two grandsons Logan and Jace Bacon; one brother Tim (Patti) Reno of Overland Park; one sister Elizabeth (Joseph) Peuser of Stilwell; brother-in-law Paul Rehbehn; seven nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.
