Ron K. Hodges

Ronald K. Hodges, 74, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, June 22, 2018, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Family will meet with friends at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Grace Community Fellowship, 501 S. Poplar, Ottawa. A memorial service will immediately follow at 11:00 A.M. Private family inurnment will be held later at Highland Cemetery. Ron was born October 22, 1943 at Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Lelton A. and Maud E. (Keller) Hodges. He graduated from Lawrence High School with the class of 1961. Ron served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965 attaining the rank of SP4 working as a personnel specialist while stationed in Germany. Ron was united in marriage to Patricia A. Lyons February 8, 1964 in Lawrence. The family lived in Kansas City, Kansas moving in 1977 to Ottawa. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Hodges of the home; five children, Kathy Boyd and husband Tim of Sartell, Minnesota, Keith Hodges of Kansas City, Missouri, Kevin Hodges and wife Kim of Overland Park, Kris Hodges of Ottawa, and Kurt Hodges also of Ottawa; sister, Carol Cowden of Lawrence; sister-in-law, Donna Lacy of Yates Center; eleven grandchildren, David Shutt, Alexis Gore, Colby Hodges, Abbye Hodges, Chasee Boyd, Dayton Hodges, Tristian Hodges, Reed Hodges, Katelynn Hodges, Macy Hodges and Adele Hodges; and two great-grandchildren, Sophey Shutt and Kai Shutt. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Daniel Hodges; and a grandson, Tyler Boyd. Ron sold insurance with his father at American Mutual in the late 1960s. In the 1970s, Ron worked for KC Carpenters District Council 61 of Kansas City; was self-employed as the owner operator of Alpha Omega Drywall in the early 1980s; maintenance supervisor for Ottawa University; and was a construction supervisor with various companies, retiring in 2011. He was a member of Grace Community Fellowship. In high school, Ron participated in gymnastics on the rings and parallel bars. He was an avid reader of suspense novels and was an excellent story teller. The family suggests memorial contributions to Grace Community Fellowship c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
